Spreading the Clay - Caroline Bush

Here at The Ceramics Studio we are surrounded by a family of lovely members, all of them having a common interest - clay!

They enjoy following their own inspiration and creating a whole host of beautiful ceramics. Like all of us,  our members all have another life outside clay; jobs, family, interests etc and often influences their ceramics life. We want to celebrate our members and share with you who they are and their ceramic journeys, their highs, lows, interests, inspiration and their future  goals.

Our first member to step onto our wheel of discovery is the lovely Caroline Bush.

How long have you been doing ceramics?

I’m not sure but I think about 6 years!
Why do you enjoy doing pottery?

I love doing pottery as it is an escape from day to day life. I can switch off and just enjoy be creative for a while. I love that you start with a lump of clay and end up with something useful and hopefully nice.

What is your favourite thing you like to make ?

Raku is my very favourite thing to make but generally like making mugs, jugs and bowls etc.

What is your favourite ceramic process?

I enjoy throwing and mainly do that but I have done some hand building which I do really enjoy. Recently I have enjoyed glazing a lot more and have had some good results.

What is your next pottery goal?

I think I would quite like to do some more hand building as I haven’t done any in a long while. Also would like to learn how to throw lids.

Caroline, we are just loving your pots and are looking forward to seeing your future projects and reaching your goals.
